The TOYOTA NATIONALS was started in 1976 by two brothers, one living in Queensland and the other living in Victoria who were both Toyota enthusiasts. They decided to have a Toyota get-together and Dubbo was chosen as it was the halfway point between both locations. The first Toyota get-together was held in front of Dubbo City Toyota with one hundred Toyota Celica's on display.
In 2023, TOYOTA NATIONALS will celebrate 47 years of meeting in Dubbo over the Easter long weekend allowing Toyota enthusiasts from across Australia the opportunity to get together showcase their Toyota vehicles, and share their passion over 3 days. This is the only event of its kind in Australia catering for late model Toyota's, as well as older and modified vehicles. The event offers a safe venue for enthusiasts to proudly display their passion, pride, power and skill behind the wheel. This year, organisers expect 100 Toyota enthusiasts will participate in the Show & Shine, Motorkhana (tarmac) and Drag Racing.
Each year, new and previous attendees and spectators are attracted to the event. In the past, TOYOTA NATIONALS has been attended by Australian Rally Champions Neal Bates and Coral Taylor; as well as four-time Australian Drift Champion, Beau Yates.
